ChallengeRules

The basics

These HUGE TV Challenge and Voting Rules (“Challenge Rules”) apply to every Challenge on our Platform. A Challenge may have its own additional rules, eligibility requirements and Reward details shown in the App (as defined in the Terms of Service). We call those the “Specific Rules.” If the Specific Rules say something different from these Challenge Rules, the Specific Rules control for that Challenge.

Capitalized words not defined here have the meanings given in our Terms of Service.

Two kinds of Challenges

Platform Challenges. These are created by HUGE, sometimes with an external sponsor. HUGE or the sponsor sets and funds the Rewards for a Platform Challenge. The Specific Rules tell you what you can win and who is responsible for providing the Rewards.

User-Created Challenges. These are created by Challenge Creators. Every User-Created Challenge goes through review by HUGE before it goes live. Unless we expressly provide otherwise, a Challenge Creator can run only one active User-Created Challenge at a time.

Who can join

To enter, vote in or create a Challenge, you must:

  • have an Account in good standing;
  • be at least 18 years old;
  • be located in the United States; and
  • meet any additional requirements in the Terms of Service or the Specific Rules.

Some Challenges may have extra restrictions based on things like location, age, residency or Reward type.

Creating a Challenge. Creating your own Challenge currently unlocks at Level 3 (as defined in the Virtual Items Policy). We may change that level or add other requirements as our Services evolve.

Who sits out the vote. You cannot vote in the Challenge you enter as a participant. The Challenge Creator cannot vote either.

How it works

A Challenge moves through four phases:

  • Initiation, when the Challenge is created, reviewed and approved;
  • Entry, when eligible Users submit their videos;
  • Voting, when eligible Users vote on those videos; and
  • Results, when the rankings and Rewards are announced.

In the App, you will generally see these phases through the Compete, Vote and Results tabs.

Entering a Challenge

One video per Challenge. You can submit one Entry (as defined in the Terms of Service) to each Challenge unless its Specific Rules say otherwise.

Entry is free. There is no fee to submit a video or enter a Challenge.

Follow the rules. Your Entry must follow the format and timing shown in the Specific Rules, as well as the Terms of Service, the Community Guidelines and applicable law.

You get HP for showing up. Successfully submit a video and you receive 300 HP (as defined in the Virtual Items Policy). You keep that HP even if the Challenge is later called off or ends without a winner. This is a participation reward, not a winner Reward.

Challenge videos are public. Your Entry is public even if your profile is otherwise private.

See something that breaks the rules? Report it. A Challenge Creator cannot remove someone else’s Entry directly. HUGE reviews reports and decides whether an Entry comes down.

How voting works

The 10-video minimum. A Challenge needs at least 10 Entries before voting can start. We call this the “Entry Threshold.”

What you see. During voting, Entries are shown in a scrambled order. If the Challenge Creator added an example or prompt video, that video may stay pinned at the top of the Challenge page.

Huge or Snooze. When an Entry is shown to you during voting, you may either “Huge” or “Snooze” it. To “Huge” an Entry means to use one Huge Vote to support that Entry. A Huge is an affirmative vote and counts toward the Entry’s total Huge Votes. To “Snooze” an Entry means to dismiss it without supporting it.

Using Crystals. Crystals can refill your Huge Votes sooner and may increase how many Huge Votes you can use across Challenges that day, subject to the limits shown in the App. They do not increase how many Entries you can support in any one Challenge. Crystals can help you vote across more Challenges, but they cannot buy you more influence over a single result.

Bonus Huge Votes. You may earn temporary bonus Huge Votes for things like sharing, inviting users or receiving likes. They expire 24 hours after you earn them and do not increase the standard per-Challenge limit.

Changed your mind? You can turn a Snooze into a Huge Vote any time before voting closes, subject to your voting limits. It does not work the other way around. Once you Huge an Entry, that vote is final.

Every Huge Vote counts the same. A standard Huge Vote is worth one vote, no matter who gives it or what level they are.

Voting stays hidden while it runs. No scores, rankings or leaderboard appear while voting is live. Full results are revealed after the Challenge ends.

Picking the winners

Most Huge Votes wins. When voting closes, the eligible Entry with the most Huge Votes takes the top spot.

Up to three places. A Challenge may recognize up to three ranked placements, depending on how many Entries receive at least one Huge Vote.

No votes, no place. An Entry with zero Huge Votes cannot rank or win a Reward.

Ties go to the earlier Entry. If two or more Entries finish with the same number of Huge Votes, the one submitted first ranks higher.

Backed a Top 3 video? You receive 100 HP if an Entry you Huged finishes in the Top 3. This is a progression reward, not a winner Reward.

Created the Challenge? When a Challenge completes, its Challenge Creator receives 50 HP for each participant. This is also a progression reward, not a winner Reward.

When a Challenge falls short

Not enough Entries.

If a Challenge has fewer than 10 Entries when its original timer runs out, we may in our sole discretion automatically add time under the extension schedule shown in the App.

A Challenge can receive up to two automatic extensions, but its total Entry period will not run for more than seven days. If it still falls short after the final extension, the Challenge is called off.

Entrants keep the 300 HP earned for submitting, and their videos stay on their profiles. The Challenge Creator may relaunch the Challenge with its existing details filled in.

No Huge Votes.

If a Challenge reaches its voting deadline without any Huge Votes, we extend voting once. If it still receives no Huge Votes, the Challenge ends without a winner and no winner Reward is provided. Entrants still keep the 300 HP earned for submitting.

Rewards

Rewards from HUGE or a sponsor

Platform Challenges may offer Rewards funded by HUGE or an identified sponsor. These may include:

  • HP;
  • Crystals;
  • cash;
  • gift cards or vouchers;
  • products;
  • services;
  • cryptocurrency; or
  • Other Rewards described in the Specific Rules.

The Challenge page tells you what is available and what you need to do to qualify before you enter. HUGE or the identified sponsor is responsible for providing the Platform Challenge Rewards described in the Specific Rules.

Rewards promised by Challenge Creators

User-Created Challenges cannot offer HP or Crystals as winner Rewards.

A Challenge Creator can, however, promise an external Reward that they fund and deliver themselves. We call this a “Creator-Promised Reward.” Depending on the Challenge, it might be cash, a gift card, a voucher, a product, a service or cryptocurrency. Any Creator-Promised Reward is subject to our review and the restrictions shown in the App.

If you create a Challenge with a Creator-Promised Reward, you are responsible for:

  • describing it accurately;
  • making sure it exists and can legally be offered;
  • delivering it to the winner;
  • communicating with the winner about delivery; and
  • handling any applicable tax, reporting, registration or other legal requirements.

HUGE may provide tools that help the Challenge Creator and winner coordinate, including claim messages, status tracking and a unique claim code. But the Reward is still the Challenge Creator’s promise to you, not ours. HUGE does not fund, hold, process, insure or deliver Creator-Promised Rewards, and we do not guarantee that a Challenge Creator will deliver what they promised.

If a Creator-Promised Reward does not arrive, report it in the App. We may investigate and take action against the Challenge Creator’s Account or ability to run future Challenges. We do not step in and pay or provide the Reward for them.

Promising a Reward you do not intend to deliver is fraud and may result in removal of the Challenge, loss of Challenge-creation access or termination of your Account.

Know what you are entering

Before you enter, the Challenge page will tell you:

  • what the Reward is;
  • the key eligibility requirements;
  • any claim deadline or delivery requirements; and
  • whether the Reward comes from HUGE, a sponsor or a Challenge Creator.

Read the Specific Rules before entering. If you do not meet the requirements, you cannot win the Reward.

Rewards with extra restrictions

Cash, gift cards, cash-equivalent vouchers and cryptocurrency may not be available everywhere. They may come with extra eligibility rules, disclosures, identity checks or tax requirements.

Any additional restrictions will appear in the Specific Rules. Rewards are void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Taxes

Taxes on a Reward are the winner’s responsibility. If required, HUGE, a Payment Processor (as defined in the HUGE-Created Challenge Cash Prize and Payout Rules), a sponsor or another Reward provider may ask for information needed to verify your identity, process the Reward or complete tax reporting.

Virtual Items are not money

HP, Huge Votes and Crystals have no cash value. You cannot sell them, transfer them to another user or exchange them for money.

That does not mean an external Reward has no value. If the Specific Rules offer cash, a gift card, a product or another external Reward, that Reward is what the Specific Rules say it is.

Claiming a Reward

Do not miss the window. Claim your Reward within the period shown in the App or the Specific Rules. Wait too long and the Reward may expire.

We may need some details. To get a Reward to you, the responsible Reward provider may need information such as your name, email address, country, mailing address, identity-verification details or tax information.

Cash Rewards from HUGE. If HUGE offers a cash Reward, the payout may run through the Payment Processor. The Payment Processor may verify your identity and collect information needed for tax purposes. The Specific Rules and claim flow will explain the process that applies.

Creator-Promised Rewards happen off-platform. If you claim a Creator-Promised Reward, the Challenge Creator receives the details needed to coordinate delivery. The Challenge Creator delivers the Reward off-platform after checking the matching claim code. HUGE tracks the process but does not independently verify or process the delivery.

Keep your Entry yours to share

Your Entry must also follow the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Make sure you have the right to use everything in it, including music, images, clips, trademarks and other people’s content.

If your Entry includes someone else’s name, image, voice, likeness or other identifiable features, you are responsible for having any permission you need and following applicable publicity, privacy, intellectual-property and defamation laws. That applies to public figures too, including impressions, parody and similar content.

We may reject or remove an Entry if we believe it creates a legal, safety, intellectual-property, publicity or brand-safety risk.

Promoting a Challenge

If you promote a Challenge or Reward because you were paid, received a free product or got some other benefit, say so clearly. You must follow all applicable advertising and endorsement rules.

Sponsors, Challenge Creators, influencers and other promoters are responsible for making sure what they say about a Challenge or Reward is truthful and not misleading.

When we change or call off a Challenge

Sometimes a Challenge cannot run as planned. We may reject, cancel, extend, pause, edit or otherwise change a Challenge if reasonably necessary, including when:

  • it does not pass moderation;
  • it does not receive enough Entries or Huge Votes;
  • we suspect fraud, vote manipulation or technical interference;
  • the Challenge or Reward may break the law or someone else’s rights;
  • it creates a safety or brand risk; or
  • something outside our reasonable control affects the Challenge.

If we call off a Challenge, entrants keep HP already earned just for participating. That does not apply if the HP came from fraud, abuse or another violation of these Challenge Rules.

If a ranked User is disqualified

If a ranked User is disqualified or does not claim a Reward by the applicable deadline, HUGE may move the next eligible Entry up in the rankings, select an alternate winner, leave the placement unfilled, or handle the Reward as described in the Specific Rules and applicable law.

Play fair

Break these Challenge Rules, the Specific Rules, the Terms of Service or the Community Guidelines and we may:

  • reject or remove your Entry;
  • disqualify you from the Challenge;
  • remove or adjust votes affected by fraud or manipulation;
  • withhold a Reward or require it to be returned;
  • take away your ability to create User-Created Challenges;
  • give your Account a Strike;
  • suspend or terminate your Account; or
  • take another action allowed under the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.

Bots, bought or traded votes, coordinated voting, second Accounts and other attempts to manipulate the result are not allowed.

Changes to these Challenge Rules

HUGE will change as the game evolves, and these Challenge Rules may change with it.

We will provide notice through the App, by email, or by another reasonable method before the change takes effect, where required by applicable law. We will also update the “Last updated” date at the top of these Challenge Rules. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of the updated Challenge Rules constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated Challenge Rules, you must stop using the Services and close your Account.
